To get the benefits of interdisciplinary working there is no substitute for co-locating the members of a research or development team. The Institute for Medical Science & Technology (IMSaT) will operate a “research hotel” concept, where lab space and key equipment for interdisciplinary teams are provided for the duration of their projects.
Dedicated facilities
IMSaT will soon be housed in a new two-storey building, Wilson House, located next to the NHS Hospital and Medical School at Ninewells.
Wilson House comprises 10,000 sq.ft. of lab space and will contain:
- Fully equipped workshop for instruments and implant production
- Tissue engineering and cell culture
- Ultrasound imaging and photonics lab
- Interventional MRI with surgical suite
IMSaT will also be located close to the Clinical Research Centre, a joint venture of NHS Tayside and University of Dundee, comprising the following additional facilities:
- A clinical imaging suite with a 3 Tesla MRI scanner, a PET/CT scanner, and associated cyclotron (planned)
- Fully equipped inpatient and outpatient suites
